My 5 Favorite Books on Holistic Wellness

Dec 08, 2024

Below is a list of my ‘ Top 5 ’favorite holistic wellness books that I continually refer back to;

1. Love Heals Practice Guide – A 21-Day Journey to Personal Transformation, by Ilchi Lee
and Ilchibuko Todd

From the award-winning documentary, Love Heals, this companion, “How to”
guidebook is filled with practical principles and ways of loving and healing ourselves,
especially in tough times when we tend to beat up on ourselves, instead of having
compassion for what we’re going through. Moreover, the authors have been my
spiritual teachers for many years and have learned directly from them.

2. The Art of Living, by Thich Nhat Hanh

I love Thich Nhat Hanh’s work and teachings. They have helped me in times of deep angst and emotional pain. I go to his books for solace. In The Art of Living, some of the chapters include: Emptiness: The Wonder of Interbeing; Signlessness: A Cloud Never Dies; Aimlessness: Resting in God; Non-Craving: You Have Enough.

3. Water Up, Fire Down, by Ilchi Lee

This book is foundation for a healthy body based on an energy principle for creating calmness, clarity, and a lifetime of health. Example is having a cool head and a warm belly is key for good energy circulation. The book helps people to understand how the body works, how stress affects the immune system and what exercises would be important for energetic balance. A primer for holistic wellness.

4. The WAR of ART, Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles, by
Steven Pressfield

A friend introduced me to this book, a play on the classic The Art of War. This book is priceless in its wealth of wisdoms to go by. An example: “Most of us have two lives. The life we live, and the unlived life within us. Between the two stands Resistance.” Now this is something to meditate on.

5. Boundaries, When to Say Yes, How to Say No to Take Control of your Life, by Dr. Henry
Cloud and Dr. John Townsend

I like this book because it speaks to me. It is about me, my inability to say no when I need to and not feel guilty about it. This book helped me to better understand boundaries and where the lines are, why they’re there and what to do in the event, these boundary lines are crossed.

If you could recommend one holistic wellness book for us to read, what would it be and why?
